Busby Berkeley

I grew up with no cable and a lot of old movies from the video store. Anything Busby Berkeley was a dream.

I’m so happy that these treasures are available online now.

Disclaimer: These classics, made in the 30s and hollywood’s “golden era” often contain racist themes, tropes of “savages,” “orientalism,” + lots of racist themes dealing with Native Americans and Hispanic people. It was just the time. Hollywood was/is racist and people running Hollywood were/are racists. Sometimes I can look past it, like the number in Marlene Dietrich’s “Hot Voodoo” number in Blonde Venus, (shes fire in that blonde afro idc, idc, idc.) and sometimes I cannot. Generally I am just watching for the clothes, jewelry, choreography etc. It is what it is.
